On the morning of March 2nd, the rain let up just in time for volunteers to assemble at Legacy Park for a planned work day to spread mulch in the tot playground area. The City of Greenville's Parks Recreation and Tourism department supported volunteers of all ages with their loyal and able park crew. They hauled in the mulch and provided all the equipment so that volunteers from both Hollingsworth Park and other parts of Greenville could just show up, grab a wheel barrow or pitch fork and get the job done. Several volunteers who work regularly in the Pavilion gardens pulled Spring weeds that were getting an early start. Warm Krispie Kreme donuts and coffee, compliments of Legacy Park Friends, were a big hit with the volunteers. In just 2 hours this mighty group of 25 was able to accomplish a task that normally would take the City much longer to complete. What a great example of a dynamic public-private partnership!
